Establishing the Evidence: What Is in Our Food?

Our research began with an important question: What are we really feeding our children?

Through laboratory testing and scientific investigation, we have examined the occurrence of regulated and emerging mycotoxins in foods commonly consumed by infants, toddlers, and families.

Occurrence and Co-Occurrence of Regulated and Emerging Mycotoxins in Foods Marketed to U.S. Toddlers (2026)

Published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, this study examined 118 food products marketed to toddlers, testing for 34 regulated and emerging mycotoxins using LC-MS/MS technology.

Key findings included:

  • 32 of the 34 mycotoxins analyzed were detected.
  • 87% of products contained at least one quantifiable mycotoxin.
  • An average of 3.7 mycotoxins were quantified per contaminated product.
  • Some products contained as many as 13 different mycotoxins.
  • Multiple toxins frequently occurred together, highlighting the need for research into combined dietary exposures.
